Day 4

We left Yakama Reservation in the morning and we were heading to Warm Springs. We stayed at a public park. Not the best idea. It was a rough night for all us.  I’m glad we were able to be moved the fuel management place to camp out for a night. We also got to shower. Which is always a plus! I’m really thankful to have gotten the privilege to have access to a facility like this.

We also had some chicken alfredo, salad and watermelon. It was a nice dinner.

Day 7

Day 7 07/12/2019 Today we started our morning with some oatmeal. I just had some coffee and some fruit. I’m not much of an oatmeal person. After breakfast we headed to Newberry National Volcanic Monument. I really enjoyed the hike and the views. They also had a museum we were able to see. I learned that the volcano irrupted 7,000 years ago. Pretty neat to be able to see some of the plants growing back in. After going to the national park we went to do some laundry, it got really hot in the building once we started drying our clothes. We headed to Walmart to stock up on a few items. One of my favorite things we did today was being able to shower! The shower was only 3 minutes but it felt amazing. Nice warm water. For dinner we had tacos, sweet corn and watermelon it was a good combo! Also it was Juan’s birthday today, he turned 26 years old. We made him some brownies and had him blow out some candles. Day 10

Day 10 7/15/2019 It was really cold this morning. I couldn’t really get up due to how cold it was. We got separated into teams. One group has just environment studies majors and the 2 nd group had criminal justice, nursing majors. I was part of the 2 nd group, we started by working at meadow where a lot of reed canary grass was over growing in. Our goal was to try to work as a team and clear as much of the red canary grass as we could. Tom walker provided us with working boots and weightier. This would help us from getting are clothes wet. Unfortunately, my suit had a hole and my clothes got wet. My boots were also full of water.   This still did not stop me from pulling any of the weeds out. It was great experience. I also learn how important it is to keep our water meadows balanced. After we working for a few hours it was time for lunch at 11:30pm-12:00pm. Day 11

Day 11 7/16/2019 We woke up really early and started to pack up our tents. Before we left our campsite we picked up our tents. Before we left my team the Red Raccoons picked up are trail cams. We checked them when we got back to our camp site we actually caught a lot of deer and turkey vultures! It was so neat to see to footage.   Head headed out about 8:30am. We drove about a few us to visit Wineman Forest & Crater Lake. Crater Lake was such a beautiful spot to visit. It is the deepest lake in the United States! You can see the volcano in the middle of the lake. It looked like a small island. The water surrounding the volcano was really blue. We also did a small hike it was about 3.5 miles going up and coming back down. The hike was called the Watchman Lookout.   Going up this hike gave you an ever better view of Crater Lake. After our hike we headed to the gift shop to get a few items to remind us of our visit at crater lake. ...
